Delete your Real Alpha account

Deleting your account takes your address off the newsletter and deletes what we keep about you, on our own list and at Kit, the service that sends our emails. It can't be undone, though you can always sign up again.

Other ways

In the Android or iPhone app, open the You tab and tap Delete account.

By email, if you signed up by typing your address or can't sign in: write to hello@realalpha.tv from the address you signed up with. We delete the account within a week and write back when it's done.

What's deleted

  • Your entry on our list of subscribers: your email address, the first name and profile photo address Google or X gave us, whether you're subscribed, and how, where and on what kind of device you signed up each time.
  • What you follow, what you've watched, and the cuts you asked for.
  • The feedback and suggestions you sent with that address, and your place on the press wire, if you asked for it.
  • Your address at Kit, which sends our emails: you're unsubscribed at once, so nothing more comes, and we delete you there within a week, with its record of which emails you opened and clicked.
  • The messages our team's Slack channel got about you when you signed up, asked for a cut or sent feedback, within a week too.
  • On the phone or browser you delete it from: your name, address and what you follow, and its daily alert, if it's on.

What's kept

  • A note that an account was deleted: the number our list gave it, its number at Kit and the day, so neither brings it back. Nothing in it says who you are.
  • Counts that never had your address in them, like visits, plays and how many people signed up on each form, for three months, as the privacy policy says.
  • Emails between you and us, like the thank-you note from Rushabh and any reply, stay in our inbox unless you ask us to delete them too.
  • What your phone or browser keeps without an account, like saved segments and what the feed has shown you, until you delete the app or clear this site's data.
