uh i'm going to move us forward uh the next story is one that i'm personally invested in through neogenesis it's a company called warhound uh here's the backstory so ben lamb ceo of colossal and palmer lucky founder of andrel met at a conference about a year ago just after colossal had brought back the dire wolf from extinction uh creating a heavier more powerful designed wolf Palmer raised a specific problem that he was seeing in the supply chain for America's working dogs, typically used for search and rescue, police or military duty.
- 1:33:58
The problem that Palmer noted is that today more than 80 percent of working dogs come from Europe and fewer than half of them are fit for service. Many wash out because of inherited problems like hip dysplasia, poor eyesight or cancer. Ben and Palmer answered that question by creating Warhound. It's a company that takes cell lines from the best Belgian Milanese or German Shepherds, edit out the bad genes, enhance things like endurance, scent detection, intelligence, size, hearing, strength, and then clone the resulting dogs that were engineered so you get the same performing dog every time.
- 1:34:36
Now, you can think of the cloned dog as becoming a catalog number, cloned and raised on demand. And here's an image from the recent release of Warhound. Actually, it was leaked. It was not supposed to go public for another six months. Andrel adds the tech on top of the dog, so armored vests and sensors and feed. data to the handlers. As Ben Lamb put it, Colossal is building Captain America. Andrel is building the Iron Man suit. Warhound came out of stealth with $200 million of investments from In-Q-Tel, Sequoia, 8VC, and my own fund, Neogenesis, at a $1.2 billion post-money valuation.
- 1:35:14
For background, I think I haven't mentioned this on the pod, Neogenesis is a $200 million fund that I started with Dr. Yanni Psaltis. It's investing in Colossal and all the spin-outs, including Warhound. So the first clone dogs are due early next year, and they can be in service by two years from now. It's worth noting that Warhound is working with the American Humane Society to certify the process and the training. So Salim, let's go to you first. What are your
