Ed Zitron says Nvidia's growth plan could need $800 billion in debt

Ed Zitron, who runs the PR firm EZPR, said Nvidia's growth plans could need a huge amount of borrowing. He said so on Newcomer Pod, in an episode posted Monday, June 8, 2026.

This matters beyond Nvidia. Data centers, the buildings full of computers that run AI, draw on banks and big tech companies. If the money gets tight, it could touch the cloud services and apps many people use. It could also touch the stocks in a retirement account.

Zitron said Nvidia is meant to sell a trillion dollars of its chips by the end of 2027. Those are the chips AI runs on. He thinks data centers aren't being built at that scale. He expects the gap to be filled with debt.

He put the number in his own words.

"we're going to need like 800 billion dollars worth of debt" he said, at 33:36.

The story behind the moment is from TechCrunch on MSN. It reports that Nvidia is weighing cosigning a loan for Nscale's AI data center in West Virginia. The piece says that when investors get nervous about AI spending, it helps to have the chipmaker that sells the chips offer to cosign.

Zitron also asked what the extra capacity would do. He pointed to Anthropic getting access to Colossus from Elon Musk, and said the result was higher rate limits on Claude. His host said most people think the models have improved. Nvidia sells the chips in question, and the $800 billion figure is Zitron's own estimate.
